I’m Shaun Thurston, an artist based in Florida.

I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember, following an instinct that has led me through decades of exploration in painting, murals, and studio work. My process is a balance of control and chaos, refinement and impulse. Some pieces come together effortlessly, while others take months of layering, stripping away, and rebuilding until they feel right. Planning each step in a process is how I efficiently paint commissioned murals.

Over the years, I’ve painted across the country, worked with museums, collectors, and organizations, and built a career that has allowed me to stay true to my practice. But the exploratory work happens in the studio, where I can follow an idea wherever it leads without compromise.

Right now, I’m focused on pushing my studio work further, creating paintings that challenge me, hold my attention, and reveal something new every time I look at them. My goal is to make work that acts as a kind of charm—that resonates, invites deep observation, and shifts the viewer’s perception of their connection to the world around them.
